It consists of the rings being hooked together to make a pattern forming a steel mesh consistency. The galvanized steel that makes up this chain mail will not rust and is moisture resistant. The use of such armor was prominent from the Dark Ages, through the Middle Ages and even well in the Renaissance. It is believed that the Roman Army quickly adopted mail in Cisalpine Gaul, when fighting the Gauls. This V Shaped Face Chainmail Coif is constructed with 16 gauge round mild steel butted rings with an internal diameter of 9.5mm.
